In hindsight I would have taken Jake Peavy in the 2nd round, then hoped that Victor Martinez was still available in the 3rd round. If not, I would have passed on both Russell Martin and Brian McCann, then tried to get someone like Jorge Posada in the 7th round (he lasted until the 10th round) or Kenji Johjima in the 10th round (he lasted until the 11th round). If V-Mart had been taken by the time my 3rd round pick came up, I would have gone with either Derek Lee or Lance Berkman (I took Lee with my actual pick). If both of them had been gone too, I would have taken Vlad Guerrero in the 3rd round, then tried to snag Carlos Guillen in the 5th round (he was taken in the 4th round). Good question.
